My C3 Corvettes

Over the years, I've owned six Corvettes, ranging from 1968 through 1976.

I love C2s as much as the next guy, and C6s and C7s are also great candidates for the "want" list, but my favorite Corvettes will always be third generation models.

I do not have any photos of my '68 (that was more than thirty years ago), but I was able to dig up a couple of old photo from the early 1980s of my first 1976 Stingray, plus a couple real bad Polaroids® of the '71s I owned for a short while.

I also owned (briefly) a 1975 Vette, which was a real basket case. Thank God common sense prevailed and I got rid of it before dumping crazy money on repairs, parts, paint, upholstery, and more.

The photo below conceals the thousand-plus things this car needed to be brought back to daily driver status. In hindsight, I should have kept it as a parts donor, but unfortunately, I do not have the garage room for such projects, although that may actually be a good thing.

I tried to find a "chrome bumper" model for reasonable money, but my search left me empty-handed. However, I was able to find a low-mileage 1976 Stingray which fit my list of wants almost perfectly, so I bought it earlier this year.

I have invested quite a bit of money making it "perfect" for me, which is to be expected of any car that's fast approaching the 40-year-old mark. But this one is a keeper, so I am taking care of a few things, to ensure it will be around for another forty.
