C3 Corvettes of Years Past

While looking through a couple of old photo albums that had been sitting in a drawer for many years, I found a couple of photos of the 1971 Corvettes I owned back in 1980 for a short while.

Even at a young age, I was flipping cars. I didn't make any money, but that's another story.

Although the photos are of very low quality, I went ahead and scanned them in order to preserve them digitally for years to come.

The Bridgehampton Blue '71 had slotted rims, while the Sunflower Yellow '71 sported Turbines and '69 side pipes, which look fantastic on any year C3.

As far as engines are concerned, nothing worth writing home about, as they had the factory 270 horse 350 mills, and they both had auto transmissions.

And this was the '75 project car I owned in 2014—until common sense prevailed—and sold before sinking ungodly amounts of cash into it.

I must admit that I am glad I got rid of it since it was in need of a total body-off resto and the birdcage had too much rust for my taste.

The previous owner had done some cool mods to the suspension, and maybe I should've kept it as a parts car, but a lack of garage space killed that idea which, in hindsight, saved me money.

And this was the "other" 1976 Stingray I used to own back in the early 1980s.

It was a beaut even though—at the time—I hard a tough time liking the factory Buckskin beige color. But as a broke 20-something-year-old, I wanted to have another Vette at the time. Especially a "newer" one, and this one was priced right.

My kid brother and the '76 Vette the day we picked it up back in 1982.

I got rid of the original Rallyes and installed Western Wheels Turbine rims with Eagle GTs, as well as those very 1970-ish-looking Trimbrite® stripes.

It served duty as my daily driver for a couple of years until I sold it about a year later to purchase a used 1982 Pontiac Firebird SE. I blame Michael Knight for that decision.

Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of my 1968 Corvette.

Anyway, glad you joined me for this short drive down Memory Lane.

Thank you for following my '76 Vette Blog!
